Healthline Announces Winners of the 2011 Best Health Blog of the Year Competition

Healthline Networks, the fastest growing provider of intelligent online health information services, announced winners of its Best Health Blog of 2011 contest. The top spot and $ 5,000 prize goes to weight loss and fitness blog, FU Tone Detox. Second and third place winners, A Health Blog and Simply Healthy, will take home $ 750 and $ 250, respectively. The winners are showcased on Healthline’s website and will receive increased visibility from its extensive network of visitors.
Healthline asked consumers to vote for the best fitness, health, weight loss, mental health and lifestyle blogs on the Web, and more than 400 sites were nominated for the inaugural contest. More than 11,000 votes were cast between Dec. 2 and Jan. 31, showing that consumers are turning to the Web and blogs to read about health information and experiences by peers.
“It’s wonderful to see that people who read my blog have taken the time to vote and it’s a testament to how much people are focused on their health and finding ways to get healthy,” said FU Tone Detox blogger Sherry Pagoto, Ph.D. “Congrats to all the bloggers that were nominated in the Best Health Blog of 2011 contest. Healthline’s editors also reviewed all contest entries and selected the following five blogs as winners in the Editor’s Choice Awards: Stupid Cancer Blog, Health Blawg, Our Bodies Our Blog, The Health Care Blog, and Weighty Matters.
